Description
Brick House is a house built around 1750, featuring mid-19th century windows. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and has a slate roof with gable end stacks. The layout includes an entrance on the right side leading to a passage, with an unusually large room on the front left, suggesting a double-depth design. The house has three storeys on a plinth and presents a symmetrical front, although the doorway is offset to the right. There are four windows, all 4-pane sashes with gauged brick heads. The right-side doorway features a six-panelled fielded door with panelled cheeks and soffit, a reeded surround, and an overlight with decorative wrought iron. The exterior includes band courses of three courses of brick, pilasters on the sides, and a modillion cornice. Pintels for 19th-century external shutters remain on the ground floor windows. The interior was not accessible during the survey in January 1986, but it is likely to contain fine features such as panelling, fireplaces, and a staircase. The house appears largely unaltered and is considered one of the finest in Kingsand and Cawsand.
