Description
Pato House is a house built around 1830, with some later alterations. It features a rubble exterior that is rendered and lined out, topped with an asbestos slate roof and gable end stacks with caps. The building has a double depth plan with a central entrance hall that contains an open-well stair located to the rear left. The principal rooms are situated to the front right and left, while service rooms are located at the rear, along with a small two-storey service wing to the rear left.
The house is two storeys high, set on a plinth, and has a symmetrical façade with three windows and three central bays that break forward under a pediment, with the central bay slightly recessed. All windows are 20th-century PVC replacements in their original openings, and there is a French window to the right. The left side has a 16-pane sash window on the ground floor for the kitchen and a single light window on the first floor. The right side features a two-light casement window on the ground floor. At the rear, there is a central panelled and glazed door with a 9-pane light to the left and a 20-pane sash window to the right, along with three first-floor windows, where the stair light is set lower in the centre, with two PVC windows to the left and a 16-pane sash to the right.
The small two-storey integral service wing on the right has a three-light 20th-century window on the ground floor and a 9-pane sash window on the first floor, with a single-storey 20th-century addition at the end featuring two 6-pane lights. Inside, the central passage includes 6-panelled doors on the left and right, with panelled cheeks and soffit. The open-well stair to the rear left has stick balusters and column newels, along with a moulded ramped handrail. There is an archway at both the ground and first floors with panelled pilasters on either side. The room to the front right features a moulded cornice and a bowed rear wall.
