Description
The gates, piers, and walls surrounding the churchyard to the southeast and west of the Church of St. Philip and St. James were built around 1870, likely by the architect William White. The structure features sandstone rubble walls and rubble piers, along with wrought iron and wooden gates. To the south, there are a pair of square piers approximately 2 meters high, topped with pyramidal caps, and wooden gates that include wrought iron panels between horizontal bars. The walls in the north/south range have brick copings, while the eastern range is finished with slate copings and ridge tiles. The western range is designed with an embattled appearance and has spike railings between the merlons. The north/south range of walls extends about 40 meters and stands about 1.5 meters high.
