Description

House. Built around the early to mid-19th century, with later 19th-century additions and 20th-century alterations. The main structure is of stone rubble, with a stuccoed front. The left side is rendered. The roof is covered with asbestos slates, along with ridge tiles and gable ends. Brick chimney shafts rise from gable ends. The original layout included two rooms, with a central entrance and a principal room on either side, each heated by a gable-end chimney. In the late 19th century, a two-room addition extended along the entire rear of the house. This comprised an unheated dairy on the right and a kitchen on the left, with a chimney stack at the left end. A staircase was incorporated between the two rear rooms.

The front of the house presents a symmetrical appearance with two windows on each floor. It stands on a plinth with a decorative band course. A central 19th-century four-panelled door, with an overlight and panelled reveals, is set within a recess, under a flat hood supported by posts with pilasters and carved decoration. Late 19th-century margin-glazed sashes are on the ground floor either side of the door. The first floor has early 19th-century twelve-pane sashes to the front. The rear features a central 20th-century half-glazed door, along with a margin-glazed sash and a four-pane sash. A first-floor stair light and a 20th-century window complete the rear elevation. A single-storey outhouse, dating to the late 19th century, is attached to the left side. Inside, the room to the front right has a 19th-century fireplace.
