Description
Lindley is a house located on the north side of Grampound Fore Street, dating from the early to mid-19th century, with few later alterations. It is constructed of stone rubble with granite dressings and features a scantle slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends. The building has gable end stacks with brick shafts.
The plan consists of a double depth layout with a central entrance. The principal rooms are located to the front right and left, both of equal size and heated from a gable end stack, with shallow service rooms at the rear. The exterior is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-window front. All windows are 19th-century six-pane sashes, featuring segmental granite arches at the ground floor and cambered arches at the first floor. The central entrance has a 19th-century three-panelled door with round-arched panels and sidelights, set within a recessed porch supported by freestanding square granite piers that hold up a granite cornice. The building also has a modillion cornice and granite quoins, while the right end is blind. The interior has not been inspected.
