Description
This is an early to mid-19th century house situated on the south side of Fore Street in Grampound. The construction is of slatestone rubble with brick dressings, with parts of the exterior rendered. The roof is covered in scantle slate, with ridge tiles and gable ends. The house has gable end stacks with brick shafts. The original plan comprised two rooms, with a central entrance and principal rooms to the front left and right, each heated by a gable end stack. A later 19th-century service wing, mirroring the main range in plan and heated by a separate gable end stack, was added to the rear right. Attached to the rear left is a single-story range of outhouses, with an axial stack. The front of the house has a symmetrical facade of three windows. The ground floor features a 19th-century four-panelled and glazed door, set within a cambered brick arch with a keystone. All windows are 19th-century 16-pane sashes with cambered brick arches and keystones. The left side of the building is rendered, with an external stack. The right end is also rendered, with a 19th-century six-pane sash window on the rear of the service wing at both ground and first floor levels. The outhouses to the rear left have a door and casements, along with an axial stack. The interior of the house was not inspected.
