Description

Pendene and Little Pendene are a pair of attached houses, originally constructed as a single house, dating from the mid to late 19th century, with few later alterations. The buildings are made of stone rubble with a stucco front and feature a roof of scantle slate and asbestos slate, complete with ridge tiles and gable ends. There are gable end stacks with rendered shafts and cornices.

The layout consists of a double depth plan with a central entrance. The principal rooms on the front right and left are of equal size, and there is a rear service wing to the left, which has a one-room plan. Little Pendene, located on the left, contains the front left room and the service wing, along with a porch entrance at the left end of the front.

The main house is two stories high and has a symmetrical three-window front, characterized by rusticated quoins and a band course, along with deep eaves. The ground floor features a central shallow portico supported by square plan piers and topped with a flat hood that has a cornice. There is a 19th-century half-glazed door with an overlight. Canted bays with 6-pane sashes and sidelights are located on both the right and left sides. The first floor has three 19th-century 6-pane sashes with raised surrounds and cills supported by corbels. On the left side, there is a 19th-century flat-roofed porch with a 20th-century glazed door, which also has square plan piers supporting a flat hood with a cornice. The left end of the building is blind, while the rear service wing to the left is two stories tall, featuring a gable end at the front and a plate-glass sash on the first floor. The right end has a small 4-pane sash in the attic. The interior has not been inspected.
