Description

This milestone, dating from around the mid-19th century, features an ordnance survey bench mark and is made of painted dressed granite. It has a triangular shaft that sits on a rectangular base. The two rectangular sides of the shaft face the road at an angle and rise from large pyramid stops. Each side is marked with incised lettering and Arabic numerals. The top of the milestone is pyramidal in shape. The left side displays the inscriptions: "PENZANCE 7 MILES" and "LANDSEND 17." The right side has the inscriptions: "HAYLE 1 MILE," "CAMBORNE 6," "REDRUTH 16," and "TRURO 20."
