Description
The former pattern shop, built around the mid-19th century, was constructed for Harvey and Co. It served as a pattern shop for an iron foundry. The building features walls made of Killas and elvan rubble, with rock-faced granite dressings. It has a hipped roof covered with corrugated asbestos and partly scantle slate, along with projecting eaves. At the front, there is a cast-iron ogee-section gutter.
The building has a rectangular plan, comprising a three-storey, six-bay structure at the front and a wider single-storey, eight-bay outshut at the rear, which is slightly projected to the left. The outshut has open-fronted bays supported by octagonal wooden posts and includes a floored roof space. The front building has doorways in two of the bays; the nearly symmetrical east front features a 1:1:2:1 bay arrangement. The second bay from the left and the fifth bay contain wide doorways, with the left-hand doorway being heightened and extending to the first floor, above which is a loading doorway on the second floor. The right-hand doorway is original, featuring a segmental brick arch, while the other openings are original window openings with original windows, three of which are boarded over. The interior has not been inspected.
