Description
The premises occupied by Whites is a warehouse built in the late 19th century. It features a mix of rubble and brick dressings with stucco details and has dry Delabole slate roofs with gable ends, topped with crested clay ridge tiles and finials. The building has a large rectangular plan with doorways at the front for each floor and stands three storeys tall.
The east front is nearly symmetrical, with a three-one-three bay arrangement. The floors are separated by moulded stucco strings, and there are sill strings on the upper floors along with a corbelled and moulded brick eaves cornice. The central bay rises from upper floor piers to a gable, which includes a large stilted round arched window on the second floor. The other openings feature segmental-arched heads.
On the ground floor, there is a central trio of window openings, with slightly irregularly spaced windows on the left and right, the left-hand window originally being a doorway. There is a doorway on the far right and a wide doorway on the left. The first floor has a central pair of windows, while the first and second floors are symmetrical, except for loading doorways in the bay to the right of the middle bay instead of windows. The ground floor has ledged doors, while the upper floors have glazed doors. The original windows have fixed casements and pivoting top lights with smaller panes. The interior has not been inspected.
