Description

This milestone, located in Ludgvan, is a Grade II listed structure dating from around the mid-19th century. It is made of painted dressed granite and has a triangular shape on the shaft with a rectangular base. The two rectangular sides of the shaft face the road at an angle and rise from large pyramidal stops. Each side features incised lettering and Arabic numerals. The top of the milestone has a pyramidal head. The left side of the inscription reads: "PENZANCE 5 MILES LANDS END 15," with a benchmark underneath. The right side states: "HAYLE 3 MILES CAMBORNE 8 REDRUTH 12 TRURO 21." The base of the milestone is partly buried.
