Description

This milestone, dating from around the mid-19th century, is made of painted dressed granite and is designed as a monolith. It has a triangular shape at the top and a rectangular base. The two rectangular sides of the shaft are angled towards the road and rise from large pyramidal stops. Each side features incised lettering and Arabic numerals. The pyramidal head completes the structure. The left side of the milestone is inscribed with "PENZANCE 3 MILES LANDS END 13," while the right side reads "HAYLE 5 MILES CAMBORNE 10 REDRUTH 13 TRURO 23."
