Description

This milestone, located at SW 521338, dates from the mid-19th century and is made of painted dressed granite. It has a triangular shape on the shaft and a rectangular base. Two rectangular sides of the shaft face the road at an angle and rise from large pyramidal stops. Each side features incised lettering and Arabic numerals. The top of the milestone has a pyramidal head. The left side is inscribed with "PENZANCE 4 MILES LANDS END 14," while the right side reads "HAYLE 4 MILES CAMBORNE 10 REDRUTH 13 TRURO 22." There is also an Ordnance Survey bench mark on the milestone.
