Description
Louraine House, including the front garden walls and gate piers, is a house built around the early 19th century. The front is made of dressed coursed granite with granite dressings, while the rest of the building is painted rubble. It has a grouted scantle slate roof with brick chimneys at the gable ends and cast-iron ogee gutters. The house has a double depth plan featuring two rooms at the front: a larger room on the right, likely used as a kitchen or living room, and a parlour on the left, with a cross passage leading to a central stair between the rear service rooms. The exterior is two storeys high and features a nearly symmetrical three-window front facing northwest, with a doorway that is central to the windows. It has an original six-panel door and original 16-pane hornless sash windows. The interior has not been inspected. In front, there is a shallow garden bordered by round-headed granite coped walls on either side and a low wall with chamfered coping along the front. The gateway is flanked by round-headed granite monolithic gate piers.
