Description
Egford House, along with its gate, gate piers, and forecourt wall, is a house dating from around 1800, with alterations made in the mid-19th century. The building is constructed from coursed and dressed Doulting rubble and features a moulded eaves cornice, wide eaves, and a slate roof that is gabled to the right and hipped to the left, with dressed stone stacks. The facade is symmetrical and has an "L" plan, standing two storeys high with three bays. The first floor has 12-pane sash windows, while the ground floor features later sash windows with marginal lights.
At the center of the facade is an ashlar porch with a moulded cornice and a blocking course. The window openings on the front and left side are ogee headed, and there is a door opening to the right with a half-glazed door. Inside, there is a six-panelled inner door with fielded panels. The right return of the building has three bays and a semi-circular headed opening with a keystone at the center of the first floor. There is a wing of lower height at the rear.
To the left side of the facade, a squared and coursed Doulting rubble wall with flat coping extends, featuring central ashlar gate piers with pyramidal cappings and a wrought iron gate. The wall continues for 52 meters to the right, enclosing the garden.
