Description
Bowgyheere Farmhouse, now two houses, likely dates to the 18th century or earlier, with remodelling occurring around the early 19th century. The front is stuccoed, while the rest of the building is painted rubble. The roof is covered with scantle slate on the lower left-hand part, and asbestos slate elsewhere. Brick chimneys are visible on the far left gable end, over the gable-ended party wall, and two chimneys on the right-hand wall where the roof returns with hips to a parallel roof behind the right side of the house. Cast-iron ogee gutters are present.
Originally a long, irregular 4-room range, the building was extended around the early 19th century on the right-hand end to create a double-depth plan, including a stair hall and shallow service room. A first-floor bow window was added to the front and rear, positioned to the left of the middle. A 20th-century extension is present at the rear left.
The south-east front, with a slightly irregular 7-window facade, features a doorway towards the right, within a 20th-century glazed porch. The door consists of a pair of 3-panel doors, dating to the early 19th century, with geometric glazing and sidelights. Late 19th-century horned sash windows are throughout. The first-floor bow window, third from the left, is a horned copy with paired brackets to the cornice, with a similar window located at the rear.
Inside, a circa early 19th-century open-well open-string stair features fluted stick balusters on plinths. The interior also includes moulded ceiling cornices and panelled doors.
