Description
Farmhouse, dating from the 18th century. The house is constructed of granite rubble with granite ashlar facing on the first floor of the front elevation. Other granite details include dressed quoins, jambstones, and ground floor lintels. The windows have slate sills. The roof is covered in scantle slate, with chimneys positioned over the gable ends; one is brick and the other is granite with a brick shaft. Originally, the plan comprised two rooms, with a kitchen/living room on the left and a parlour on the slightly lower ground to the right. It has a slightly irregular three-window south front, with a doorway to the left of the centre and the first-floor window above offset towards the right. A circa mid-20th century door replaces an earlier opening, and the windows are 4-pane horned sashes, which were originally horizontal-sliding sashes. The ground floor openings are taller, and the right-hand opening may have previously served as a doorway. The interior has not been inspected. The unusual feature of granite ashlar facing only the first floor suggests a possible later 18th-century remodelling of an earlier 18th-century structure.
