Description
Lower-an-Gothaw is a house dating from the early 19th century, which incorporates a 17th-century doorway. It is built from granite and Elvan ashlar, with granite sills, and features a slurried scantle slate roof with brick chimneys over cross party walls. The layout consists of two rooms with a cross passage between them, along with a conservatory added to the rear in the early 20th century.
The exterior is two storeys high and has a symmetrical north front with two window openings and a central doorway that features a four-panel door. The doorway, which is from the 17th century, has moulded granite jambs and a lintel, as well as quirk and tongue stops. The right-hand window opening has been enlarged, likely converted into a small shop front in the 19th century. The ground floor has four-pane horned sash windows, while the first floor retains original 16-pane hornless sash windows. The interior has not been inspected.
