Description

The Old Rectory is a detached house that was refaced in the early 19th century in a Gothick style, likely over an older structure from the late 17th century. It is built from coursed and dressed rubble stone and features pilaster strips with cornice corners. The stone slate roof has coped verges and scattered stone stacks. The building has a double range, is two storeys high with an attic, and has its main front facing south.

The south elevation displays three small coped gables with saddlestones, with the central gable featuring kneelers. There are three windows, including a central projecting bay with alternating flush quoins. The first floor has twin 8-pane sash windows set in moulded stone architraves with square hoodmoulds. The ground floor features triple 8-pane sash windows in similar surrounds, flanking a central door that has a depressed wide stone Tudor arch with a square hoodmould on a stone architrave. The door consists of double half-glazed doors with Gothick panelling, and a coat of arms is positioned above it. The attic contains twin 6-pane casements, some of which have been recently renewed, in a style consistent with the other windows.

Inside, there is a wood newel stair to one side and a fine Gothick main staircase with pointed arch bannisters. The porch, which was noted in the Buildings of England - Gloucestershire: The Cotswolds (1979, David Verey), has been removed.
