Description

Maulden Grange is a house that dates from the 17th century or earlier, with significant alterations made in the late 18th century in the Gothick style, and some early 19th-century additions primarily at the rear. The exterior features pebbledash render that likely covers timber framing in the older sections and brick in the newer parts, all topped with clay tile roofs. The building has a complex layout, with sections that are one storey and attics, as well as parts that are two storeys high.

On the south elevation, there is a central block that is one storey and has attics, flanked by two-storey cross-wings, with the right-hand wing appearing to be a later addition that includes a 19th-century two-storey extension on the outer wall of its gable. The windows are pointed-arched two-light designs, retaining most of their original Gothick glazing bars. A small two-storey gabled porch is located at the center, featuring a 20th-century plank door beneath a moulded render label, which is topped by a window on the first floor. A red brick double ridge stack is aligned with the porch, and there are additional red brick stacks on the outer wall of the left-hand cross-wing and at the ridge of the right-hand cross-wing. The rear sections of the house display a variety of sash and casement windows. The interior has been extensively reworked in the 19th century and is relatively plain.
