Description
Nos. 4 and 6 Fore Street are two shops with accommodation above, built around the 1860s or 1870s. The front features incised stucco on studwork and a dry Delabole slate roof with projecting eaves. The building has a double-depth plan and stands three storeys high with a two-window range. It retains original horned sash windows and shop fronts, with a quoin strip on the left side and at the second floor on the right. The second floor has paired four-pane sashes set within moulded architraves on moulded sills supported by brackets, linked to a band with a cornice. The first floor features tripartite sashes with pilasters between the lights, also within moulded architraves topped by a moulded entablature, with the centre of the frieze projecting forward, all on moulded sills with brackets. The left side has a double shop front, while the right side has a two-light shop front with a doorway to its left. The pilasters are chamfered, with paired consoles and scrolled pediments, and the fascias are divided with moulded architraves and cornices. The interior has not been inspected.
