Description
No. 10 Church Street is a shop with accommodation above, dating from the late 19th century, or possibly a late 19th-century refronting of an older building. The exterior is finished in stucco and features giant Corinthian pilasters above the shop window. The roof is covered in rag slate and has a modillioned eaves cornice, with a panelled stuccoed stack on the right side. The building has a double-depth plan and stands three storeys high with a one-window range.
There are square hoodmoulds over moulded pairs of 2-light mullions, which contain original 2-pane horned sashes. Brackets support the second-floor sills. The original 4-light shop window has a panelled stall riser, tall end pilasters, and slender mullions topped by spandrels that create shouldered arched lights. The fascia has a moulded cornice, and the shop doorway features an original glazed door with an overlight, shared with No. 12 on the left. A 20th-century full-width blind is present. The interior of the shop includes a moulded ceiling cornice, but the rest was not inspected.
