Description
The building is a former wool store located at the rear of Nos. 16 and 18 Church Street in Launceston, likely dating from the late 17th century or 18th century. It features rubble side and rear walls, with the front end jettied to the upper floors, showing a deeper projection on the left. The exterior includes slate-hanging on a timber frame, weatherboarding at the top of the gable, and render on the right side. There is a brick stack towards the rear on the left. The building has an end-on plan that is probably two rooms deep and stands three storeys tall.
The front end has a wide doorway positioned right of centre, with a doorway to each floor above slightly left of centre, all featuring old ledged doors. The left-hand return has a wide window tucked under the eaves, while the right-hand return has a single-window range with a doorway on the right, also with original ledged doors. The visible slate-hung rear has a blocked gable window above a full-width tripartite window, which includes a deeper central 15-pane light and fixed lights with glazing bars on the left side.
Inside, the building retains its original floor structures and an oak roof structure with high pegged lapped collars.
