Description
6 and 8 Church Street is a town house with a later shop, built in the mid-19th century. The exterior is finished in stucco and features giant key-patterned pilasters that divide the bays. The roof is made of rag slate and has projecting front eaves. The building has a shallow-depth plan and stands three storeys tall with a three-window range. It possibly retains original two-pane hornless sash windows. The ground floor includes a full-width two-light late 19th-century shop front, which has a half column on the right, a central panelled pilaster, and a panelled stall-riser on a granite plinth. There is likely a coal hatch towards the left, with a shop doorway on the left and a house doorway on the right. Both doorways have top-glazed panelled doors with overlights that feature arched corners. A full-width 20th-century fascia is located beneath the original moulded cornice. The interior of the shop contains old pine fittings, but the rest of the building has not been inspected.
