Description

This is a mid-19th century town house, later adapted for use as a shop. It is located on Church Street, Launceston. The front elevation was originally stuccoed, but is now rendered. It has a rag slate roof hidden behind a parapet with a moulded cornice, and a brick stack on the left side. The building follows a double-depth plan, with three storeys and a two-window front. The original windows are 12-pane hornless sash windows. The ground floor features a late 19th-century shop front with granite quoin strips topped with caps. The shop front has mosaic stall risers beneath plate glass lights, including quadrant lights flanking the doorway. The doorway has slender mullions with carved spandrel caps and a glazed door and overlight. A sloping fascia is topped by a cornice with blind consoles and open pediments. The shop interior was altered in the 20th century, and the remainder of the building's interior has not been inspected.
