Description
No. 12 Church Street is a town house with a later shop, dating from around 1830. The building is finished in stucco and features a rag slate roof with projecting front eaves and a rendered stack on the left side. It has cast-iron ogee gutters and a double-depth plan. The structure stands three storeys high and has a two-window range, with original 12-pane hornless sash windows. The ground floor includes an early 20th-century double shop front with plate glass, which features slightly bowed glass in the return lights. There is a flanking splayed doorway with a glazed door and overlight. The original fascia is mostly obscured by a 20th-century fascia, except at the far right where there is a stepped fascia and a moulded cornice above the house doorway, which has an engaged column on its right, topped by an arched fascia stop and a lozenge-patterned overlight above the 20th-century door. The interior of the shop has been altered in the 20th century, and the rest of the building was not inspected.
