Description

This is a large shop with living accommodation above, likely dating to the mid- to late 19th century or a late 19th-century remodelling of an earlier building. The front facade is a mix of materials: dressed granite pilasters frame the shop front, while the rest is stuccoed over a timber frame, with eared architraves on the first floor and simpler architraves above. A deep, tapered plan creates a projecting bay on the right, encompassing an opening that served as a through passage. The building is three storeys high and has four windows on each floor. The original windows were likely four-pane sashes with horns. The shop front is full-width and comprises six lights, with a splayed central doorway having sidelights and a glazed door with an overlight. This shop front features slender turned mullions, a moulded entablature, a fascia, and a dentilled cornice. The interior of the shop was altered in the 20th century, and the rest of the interior was not inspected.
