Description
The Great House is a town house with a shop, built in the mid-19th century on the site of a 16th-century building. It features stucco on studwork and an asbestos slate roof with deep eaves at the front, along with cast-iron ogee gutters. The building has a double-depth plan and stands three storeys tall with a three-window range. The first and second floors have 4-pane hornless sash windows. There is a granite plinth and a band over the first floor, with pilaster strips flanking the ground-floor quoin rustications above. The ground floor includes a wide shop front, which may be original, with a moulded fascia supported by four Doric pilasters. It has a double shop window on the right, a doorway, and another window on the left. The first floor features recessed window surrounds, while the second floor has moulded architraves, with both upper floors having sills on brackets. The interior has not been inspected.
