Description
Nos. 8 and 9 Lemon Street are two adjoining shops with accommodation above, dating from the early 19th century. They are constructed of stucco on studwork and feature asbestos slate roofs with cast-iron ogee gutters. The buildings have a double-depth plan and rise to three storeys, presenting a three-window range.
No. 9 showcases a late 19th-century shop front, characterized by slender Ionic columns that flank a doorway with bowed sidelights, topped with a moulded entablature and fascia. Above, there are 20th-century windows set within original keyed stucco architraves.
No. 8 features a 20th-century Edwardian-style shop front with a doorway positioned on the left. It includes three rusticated pilasters and a key-pattern band between the first and second floors, along with moulded eaves cornices. The windows are late 19th or early 20th-century tripartite sashes, framed in moulded wood architraves. The interiors have not been inspected.
