Description
6 and 7 Lemon Street is a town house that has been converted into a shop, dating from the early 19th century. The front features incised stucco on studwork, with an asbestos slate roof and rebuilt brick end stacks. The building has a shallow plan that was altered during its conversion to a shop. It stands three storeys high and has a two-window front, with rusticated quoins and moulded hoods on consoles above the first floor. The windows on the first floor are possibly original tripartite hornless sashes with glazing bars, while the upper floor has horned copies. The ground floor features a large early 20th-century double shop front with pilasters, crested consoles, and a moulded fascia. It also includes slender turned mullions with Ionic capitals and dentils on the transom, along with a doorway to the upper floors on the left. The interior of the shop has classical style fittings, but the rest of the building was not inspected.
