Description
SW 7526 MANACCAN
6/60 Penarvon Cottage - II
House. C18, remodelled circa 1820's extended circa early-mid C19. Painted stone rubble and cob walls. Scantle slate roof, formerly thatched with brick chimneys over original gable ends. Plan: 2 rooms originally, of parlour, left, and kitchen/living-room, right with large fireplace; extended in the C19 with further room to left of parlour with outshut at rear. 2 storeys. Overall 3-window south front. C19 extension left, altered C20 and original slightly irregular 2-window front house, right. Original doorway slightly left of middle but now with pointed arch window to match the C20 copies of the early C19 Gothic 2-light casement windows with Y-tracery and glazing bars. Eaves heightened circa early C20. Interior has C18 bowtell moulded ceiling beams and large fireplace in right-hand room. This is the only pre-C19 house in the beautiful Penarvon Cove and the only one immediately apparent from the shoreline.
