Description
Tremorna is a pair of cottages that have been converted into one house, dating from the early 19th century. The building features painted and rendered walls, a scantle slate roof, and a brick chimney located over the cross party wall to the left of the middle. It has a cast iron ogee gutter. The original layout likely consisted of two single-cell cottages with a pair of entrance passages in the middle, but it was remodeled in the 20th century to create three ground floor rooms.
The building is two storeys high and originally had a symmetrical three-window east front with two doorways towards the middle. The left-hand doorway now has a 16-pane, 2-light casement, while the right-hand doorway features an early 20th-century glazed door within a glazed lean-to porch of the same period. The left-hand window on the ground floor has been enlarged in the 20th century and now contains a 24-pane horned sash with a 16-pane horned sash above it. The right-hand window is a 20th-century 16-pane casement, but the other two first-floor windows are the original 16-pane hornless sashes. The interior has not been inspected. Tremorna is part of a group of houses from the late 17th and early 19th centuries located near the head of the creek at Helford.
