Description
Rose Cottage is a house that was originally two separate cottages, dating from the early 19th century. The building features painted rubble and cob walls, with rendering on the right side, slate sills, and wooden lintels. It has a scantle slate roof, and the brick chimneys were removed in the 20th century. The layout consists of a two-room house, which is now a single room, and a single-cell cottage on the right, which has been extended with a one-room addition in the 20th century. The structure is two storeys high and has an overall three-window east front. The left side of the building has two windows and is nearly symmetrical, with a doorway that has been converted into a window, slightly left of the center. The first floor features horned 16-pane hornless sash windows. The former cottage on the right has a doorway with a 20th-century divided ledged door on the left and 16-paned horned sash windows. The interior has not been inspected. Rose Cottage is part of a group of houses from the late 17th to early 19th centuries located near the head of the creek at Helford.
