Description

Woodbine Cottage is a house that likely dates from the 18th century. It features painted rubble and cob walls, slate sills, and wooden lintels. The cottage has thatched roofs, with a brick chimney over the cob gable end on the left and another brick chimney over a possibly 19th-century rebuilt rubble and dressed granite gable end on the right. The plan was remodeled in the 20th century but originally included two large rooms, likely a parlour on the left and a kitchen or living room on the right, along with a single-storey wing at right angles to the rear of the left-hand room and a one-and-a-half-storey wing at right angles to the rear of the right-hand room.

The building is two storeys high and has a nearly symmetrical three-window front facing west-north-west. The central doorway features a 20th-century door and a thatched hood. There are French windows in 20th-century openings to the left and right. The kitchen or living room on the right has a wider window opening with a late 18th-century 18-pane two-light horizontal sliding sash. Other windows are in original openings and have similar but 12-pane designs. The window above the original doorway is smaller. Although some renovations occurred in the 20th century, the surface texture of the walls and the old windows have largely been preserved. The interior has not been inspected.
