Description
Tinker Taylor is a house and adjoining cottage, now functioning as a house, dating from the 18th century. It features painted granite rubble walls with granite dressings and slate sills, topped by a thatched roof with brick chimneys at the gable ends, one of which is rendered, possibly over stone. The original layout likely consisted of 1½ rooms deep, with kitchen and living rooms at the front and shallow service rooms at the rear. The house on the left has two front rooms, likely a parlour and a kitchen living room, separated by a cross passage. The cottage retains its former entrance passage on the left.
The exterior is two storeys high with a long, low, three-window north front. The first-floor windows are positioned under thatch eyebrows, which may have been enlarged in the 20th century. The ground floor features two doorway openings and three windows, with original openings, except for the former cottage doorway, which has been converted to a window. The door and the four-pane horned sash windows are from the 20th century. The interior has not been inspected.
