Description

Esther's Field is a house that combines a late 18th century structure with a cottage from the early 19th century. It has been enlarged and remodeled around the early 20th century. The building features painted granite rubble walls and roofs that are thatched with wheat reed. The granite chimneys are located over the original gable ends and were heightened in the 20th century, with additional chimneys also from that period.

The overall plan of the building is L-shaped. The original farmhouse, which had a two-room plan, is now a single room on the right side, with a later outshut for service rooms at the rear, dating from the late 18th or early 19th century. On the left side is a one-room plan cottage from the early 19th century, which has an early 20th-century wing built at right angles behind it.

The exterior is two storeys high with a total of four windows on the south front. The right side features the original symmetrical two-window front of the farmhouse, with a central doorway. The first-floor windows have arch-headed shapes and are set beneath thatch eyebrows. The doors and windows are from the 20th century, and the windows are two-light casements with glazing bars.

Inside, there is a large original granite fireplace at the left-hand end of the house. The carpentry and joinery, including the roof structure, date from the early 20th century and are carefully detailed, likely inspired by the original features.
