Description

The Seventh Day Adventist Church, originally built as a Methodist Sunday School, dates from 1909 and is located on the north side of Illogan Vogue. The building is constructed from snecked rock-faced killas rubble with white granite dressings and features a slate roof. It has a rectangular plan oriented on a north-south axis, consisting of three by four bays, with a gable facing the road.

The church exhibits an eclectic architectural style with a symmetrical, gabled two-storey facade. It has a plinth and granite quoins at the outer corners and the center, which projects forward. The central round-headed doorway is set within a shallow gabled surround and features a hoodmould. Above the doorway is a round-headed three-light window with wooden mullions, a wavy transom, and diamond-leaded glazing. There is a hump-topped plaque above the window with raised lettering that reads "WESLEYAN / SUNDAY SCHOOL." The outer bays contain two-stage three-light windows that match the central window style, separated by plaques with raised lettering "A.D." on the left and "1909" on the right.

The gable is taller than the roof behind it and is adorned with moulded copings and kneelers. At the base of the wall, there is a course of lettered foundation stones, which are double-tiered at all corners, including the jambs of the doorway. The sides of the building feature large square-headed windows. This church is included for its group value with the Methodist Church located opposite.
