Summercourt Wesley Church With Attached Sunday School

Summercourt Wesley Church, built in 1845, is a Methodist church with an attached Sunday school from the mid to late 19th century, which has undergone some alterations in the 20th century. The church is constructed of stone rubble with granite dressings and quoins, topped with a hipped slurried scantle slate roof featuring ridge tiles. The Sunday school, made of granite rubble, has a slate roof with crested ridge tiles and gable ends, and a gable end stack on the left with a brick shaft.

The church has a single auditorium plan with the entrance at the front and the ritual east at the rear. The symmetrical two-storey front features 19th-century panelled double doors with a fanlight that has radial glazing bars, all set within a dressed stone round arch. Above, there are two 19th-century 2-light 18-pane casements on either side, also with dressed stone round arches. A central recessed moulded datestone bears the inscription: "WESLEYAN CHAPEL AD 1845."

On the right side, there are two tall round-arched windows with dressed stone arches, containing mullioned and transomed windows. A single-storey lean-to is attached to the rear. The left side mirrors this with two similar round-arched windows featuring 20th-century glazing. The attached Sunday school is a lower single-storey building at the rear left, with a front that includes two 3-light casements with shouldered arches and double plank doors with a shouldered arched overlight to the right.

The interior is not accessible but may still contain notable features such as a gallery and rostrum.
