Illogan Highway Methodist Church Hall

Illogan Highway Methodist Church Hall is a Wesleyan Methodist chapel, now serving as a meeting hall and Sunday School. It was built in 1839, as indicated on the gable wall, and has undergone alterations. The structure features killas rubble brought to courses, with uncoursed rubble on the sides and rear, and granite quoins and dressings. It has a slate roof and a rectangular plan with three bays by three bays, oriented with the gable facing the road.

Although it is a single-storey building, the facade presents an unorthodox two-storey appearance with three bays. This facade includes a chamfered plinth and a prominent center section that contains a large round-headed doorway with panelled double doors and a fanlight featuring radiating glazing bars. Above the doorway are coupled round-headed windows and a datestone displaying the raised date "1839." The gable features a Romanesque-style triple-lancet window with a sill-band, while the flanking bays each have a large round-headed window, all of which also have radiating glazing bars. The gable is topped with chamfered coping. The side walls have matching windows, and there is a lean-to extension at the rear with a doorway. The interior has not been inspected.

This building is the second of three successive chapels on this site, which collectively demonstrate the development of Methodism and are recognized for that reason.
