Description
This milestone, located immediately north of number 49 on Agar Road in Carn Brea, dates from the early 19th century. It is a small painted granite monolith that has a triangular shape with an integral square base. The left side (east) is inscribed with the distances to Camborne (2 miles), Hayle (6 miles), Penzance (16 miles), and Land's End (26 miles). The right side (west) features inscriptions for Redruth (1 mile) and Truro (10 miles). This milestone is an intact example from the early 19th century, and the inscriptions are still clearly legible.
