Description

Wayside Cottages consists of two cottages and an adjoining former barn that has been converted into living accommodation. The buildings feature painted rubble walls and scantle slate roofs, with gable ends except for one hipped end on the former barn and a hipped corner at the outer angle. Brick chimneys rise from the partly walls and the left-hand side wall of the former barn. The overall layout is L-shaped and was remodeled in the 20th century.

On the right side, there is likely a former pair of one-room-plan cottages that have been combined into a single house. Set back on the left, on higher ground, is a two-room-plan cottage that may have originally been a farm building. Behind this cottage is the former barn, which is built into the bank on the left and features external stone steps leading up to a central former threshing floor.

The exterior of the buildings is two storeys high. The cottage on the right retains two original window openings, while other openings have been remodeled in the 20th century. The other house has a doorway with a window above it at the front and two windows on its left-hand wall. The barn has ground and first floor doorways in the same wall. The doors and casement windows, which have small panes, are from the 20th century. The interior has not been inspected.
