Description

Number 9 is an attached house built around 1790, located on Sion Hill in Clifton, Bristol. It is constructed from limestone ashlar with brick party wall stacks and features a slate mansard roof. The house has a double-depth plan and is designed in the late Georgian style, standing three storeys tall with an attic and basement, and a four-window range.

Architectural details include pilaster strips leading to a cornice and parapet, with a rusticated ground floor that has a plat band. The entrance features a doorway with an architrave, a plate-glass overlight, and a six-panel door with the upper four panels raised. The ground-floor windows are horned plate-glass sashes, while the first floor has triple sashes, and the second floor has 6/6-pane sashes. A full-width first-floor balcony with a tented timber design is supported by cast-iron brackets and has elaborate railings and stanchions. The mansard roof extends over the entrance section, making the roof itself not visible from the front.

Additional features include attached cast-iron spike-headed railings and gates for the front basement area, along with piers and ramped walls leading to the doorway. The interior has not been inspected.
