Description

Number 8 is an attached house, now functioning as a pair, built in the early 19th century. It features a rendered exterior with limestone dressings, a brick party wall, and ridge stacks, although the roof is not visible. The building has a double-depth plan and is designed in a late Georgian style, comprising three storeys, an attic, and a basement, with a four-window range.

The front is nearly symmetrical, with a two-window centre that projects slightly forward. It has outer pilaster strips, a cornice, and a parapet. To the right, there is a large 19th-century tripartite entrance with pilasters supporting an entablature and a dentil cornice. This entrance includes panelled mullions, margin panes, and overlights, along with a half-height bowed Tuscan portico and a six-panel door. The left side features a plain late 19th-century doorway with a six-panel door.

The central ground- and first-floor windows are sashes with margin panes, while the outer first-floor windows are French windows with margin panes. The second-floor windows are six-over-six pane sashes. There are two basement windows and a small doorway on the right. A mid-19th-century full-width first-floor tented timber balcony is supported by cast-iron brackets and features railings with lattice sections, panels with anthemia in arched tops, and cobweb spandrels.

Additionally, there are attached wrought-iron railings and gates for the front basement area, adorned with urn finials. The interior has not been inspected.
