Description
Number 16 is an attached house built around 1780, featuring a rendered exterior with limestone dressings. It has a double-depth plan and is designed in the mid-Georgian style, standing three storeys high with an attic and basement. The front of the house is symmetrical and includes pilaster strips leading to a moulded cornice and parapet. A semicircular-arched doorway is located on the right side, adorned with thin torus moulding, a plate-glass fanlight, and a six-panel door with flush bottom panels. The windows consist of six-over-six pane sashes, with three-over-six panes on the second floor and an eight-over-eight pane sash on the right return. The rear elevation features a full-height one-window block with eight-over-eight pane sashes. Although the interior has not been inspected, the property includes notable subsidiary features such as attached wrought-iron spear-headed front area gates and railings with urn finials and capped corner piers, along with steps leading down to the basement entrance. Number 16 is part of a terrace that includes numbers 16 to 19, which are connected by a continuous cornice.
