Description
Mid-19th century piers, gates, and railings lie north-west of Wimborne Lodge, leading towards Canford School. The structure is possibly attributable to Charles Barry, based on similarities to gates at South Lodge. It comprises limestone ashlar piers topped with enriched cornices and obelisk finials. Between the piers are low, 20th-century double gates flanked by turnstiles. Low dwarf walls support iron railings featuring fleur-de-lys finials, which curve towards the road, interspersed with shorter piers topped with octagonal caps. The structures are listed for their historical interest, the quality of the surviving fabric, and their group value in relation to Wimborne Lodge.
