Description

This gatepier, dating from around 1850, is likely the work of architect Charles Barry. It is constructed from tooled limestone ashlar and has a square plan. The gatepier features a moulded plinth, banded rustication, a frieze, a moulded cornice, and a stepped cap topped with a large urn finial that includes carved swags and fruit drops. This gatepier is one of a pair, and at the time of the survey in April 1987, there were no gates present. It, along with the Lodge, marks the entrance to the main drive leading to Kiddington Hall, which was also remodelled by Charles Barry around the same time.
