Description

A pair of gate piers located on the north side of the forecourt of St John's Lodge, built around 1846 as part of Sir Charles Barry's enlargement of the villa. These gate piers are made of stone and feature a channelled square section. They have prominent cornice caps and are topped with Baroque escutcheons supported by boys, which may have been added by Lord Bute.
