Description
The Hylas Fountain is located in the formal garden to the east of and aligned with the entrance front of St John's Lodge in Regent's Park, City of Westminster. This fountain sculpture was created in 1894 and further developed for the Royal Academy in 1895 by Henry A Pegram. It features a bronze figure of a standing youth, whose legs are clasped by a mermaid, set on a stone base in the center of a circular pool. Originally titled "The Bather," the fountain is part of the formal "Dutch" or "Old English" garden that enhances the entrance front axis of St John's Lodge. It was presented in 1933.
