Description
The garden terraces to the south and west of Kiddington Hall were created around 1850 by architect Charles Barry. They are made of squared and coursed limestone, along with limestone ashlar. The terraces are arranged in an L-shape and are located at the south and west fronts of Kiddington Hall, with a higher balustraded terrace in front of the orangery closing them off to the north. The layout is formal and Italianate, featuring stone copings and cable-fluted stone urns on both the upper and lower terraces. The orangery terrace includes flanking flights of stone steps, a central projection, a string course, and balustrading with square dies and urn finials. These terraces are part of Barry's extensive work at Kiddington around 1850.
