Description

The gates and piers at South Lodge date from the 19th century and were created by Barnard, Bishop and Barnard of Norwich. They are made of wrought iron and stone. The elaborate gates feature a strap work design, while the hollow wrought iron gate piers are adorned with strap work, gilded rosettes, and finials. The railings, which are positioned between the stone piers, sweep forward towards the road and include a strap work design below the dog rail. The railings have finials that alternate between fleur-de-lys and gilded rosettes. The stone piers have bases, panelled shafts, and projecting cornices topped with ball finials.
